About Tech Spec

Troy Doehring, Owner of Tech Spec Home Inspection Service, Inc.

I have a solid background in carpentry/construction, heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical experience. I financed my college degree by working for a carpenter: remodeling, repairs, and building on additions to new construction. After earning a degree from Illinois State University, I started Doehring Home Improvement, continuing to gain valuable information about construction methods, maintenance, and developing a more durable, efficient, and safer home. Many years of on the job training led to my desire to become a home inspector. I have been a home inspector since the beginning of 2000, with over 3000 inspections completed.
Tech Spec Home Inspection Service was created in April of 2001. Tech Spec has implemented a few basic principles from the start: honesty, integrity, and professionalism. I don't desire to be the largest inspection firm in the area; however, my goal is to be the best inspection firm in the area. I strive to achieve the most thorough and technical inspection in each and every report. Tech Spec Home Inspection Service, Inc. prides itself with an eye for details and a genuine concern for its clients and their potential investment.

At Tech Spec Home Inspection Service, Incorporated I offer a three phase inspection process: 1) Before the inspection I like to take the time to go over what I will and will not be inspecting, the inspection agreement, and inquire about any specific concerns or needs. 2) The inspection process 3) Overview of the printed report. You are welcome to partake in the entire inspection, just the overview, but you aren't required. If you are unable to attend the inspection, general maintenance and information will be provided in the report, and I'm also available for consultation. I will be inspecting the following components along with several others:

  • Lots and grounds
  • Exterior Surface
  • Outbuilding(s)
  • Roof
  • Garage/Carport
  • Electrical
  • Structure
  • Attic
  • Basement
  • Crawlspace
  • Air Conditioning
  • Fireplace
  • Heating
  • Plumbing
  • Bathroom(s)
  • Kitchen
  • Bedroom(s)
  • Living Space
  • Laundry Room/Area
  • Foundation
Tech Spec constantly strives for perfection. In 2005 we implemented a quality analysis program to maintain our high level of commitment to each and every client. I will be constantly adding, enhancing, and upgrading my library comments to accommodate: improvements, new materials, and procedures. My wife and I will also randomly review 10% of all inspection reports and returned survey results on a monthly basis for any errors, deficiencies, and/or any feedback to improve the inspection report and process. Annual continued education and training through ASHI, peer discussions, on-line courses, literature, and testing will never cease.

Using a software program on a pocket PC to perform inspections enables you, the client, the convenience of printed inspection report on site - NO WAITING for a mailed or delivered report. I'm also able to send out reports via e-mail. I am able to capture digital photos for defective items that cannot readily be seen by all parties involved. If the client isn't present at the time of inspection and would like to visually view each room for any problems, I can accommodate that as well.
